Loretta Hummel to perform in Springs

Loretta Hummel & Country Grass will present a program at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Folk Meeting House in Springs.

Hummel, singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Grantsville, Maryland, was recently honored with the International Country Gospel Music Association’s “Bluegrass Artist of the Year” Gold Cross Award during its 2022 convention in West Plains, Missouri.

Hummel has recorded and released several music albums, with her latest “The Red, White and Blue.” She has performed for the ICGMA in West Plains, Missouri, as well as for the Country Gospel Music Association in Branson, Missouri. She was the 2021 Female Vocalist of the Year, Lyricist of the Year, and Favorite Artist of the Year during the CGMA convention held in Kentucky, and the recipient of two international awards at the 2021 convention in Branson, Missouri.

Performing with Hummel will be Paul Dix, playing the mandolin, and Robyn Bagley, playing the bass guitar.

The Springs Museum will be open from 10 a.m. until noon Saturdays through Oct. 1, or by appointment. The upcoming Springs Folk Festival, to be held 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day, Oct. 7 and 8, helps to sponsor the programs. Loretta Hummel & Country Grass will also be performing at the Springs Folk Festival from 1–2 p.m. Oct. 8 in the Program Building. The Springs Farmers’ Market closes for the season on Sept. 24.
