Lori Loughlin's daughter Olivia is being trolled over bribery case: 'Expel this cheater'

Lori Loughlin's daughter Olivia Jade Giannulli has come under fire online after her parents were charged Tuesday with paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes to cheat their daughters' way into college.

After news broke that Loughlin and her fashion designer husband, Mossimo Giannulli, were caught up in the nation's largest-ever college admissions bribery case, Olivia Jade's Instagram comments were flooded with critics who slammed her enrollment at the University of Southern California.

"You didn’t earn your success. You stole it from someone more hardworking and deserving than you," user @saramikaila commented on a picture of Olivia Jade, 19, lounging with friends.

User @emmathe_favourite added, "Imagine having to never work for anything in your life… oh wait," while @texas_built_bbq said: "Lock her up!! Lock her up!!"

Olivia Jade, who runs a YouTube channel with nearly 2 million subscribers, disabled her Instagram comments on her latest pictures as a result. But, her YouTube page inevitably received the same treatment.

"I'm thinking a 'Clothes to Wear to My Parents Court Hearings' haul might be in your future sweetie," Unknownlight927 wrote under her latest video, "new season, new clothes (try on haul!)"

"Row row row your fake boat, right into USC! Merrily merrily merrily merrily, get kicked out with no degree ," Lizzie Robertson commented, with Avuhhh adding, "Those new clothes make you look like a million bucks!! actually... maybe only $500k. "

Jordan Pretari said, "Also sis we waiting on that mug shot makeup tutorial with the discounted sephora olivia shade collection," referring to her to Olivia Jade's palette collaboration with the makeup brand.

USA TODAY has reached out to Sephora for comment.

Investigators said in Tuesday's affidavit that in July 2016, Loughlin and her husband "agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team, despite the fact they did not participate in crew, thereby facilitating their admission to USC." Loughlin's oldest daughter, 20-year-old Isabella Rose, also attends the school.

Olivia Jade is currently in her first year at the university in Los Angeles, but admitted that the college life has not always been her dream. In fact, she revealed that her parents "made me go."

"I don't know how much of school I'm gonna attend," she said in one of her videos from last summer. "But I'm gonna go in and talk to my deans and everyone, and hope that I can try and balance it all. But I do want the experience of, like, game days, partying. … I don't really care about school, as you guys all know."

The YouTube star later walked back her statements in another video, titled "im sorry."

"I said something super-ignorant and stupid, basically. And it totally came across that I'm not grateful for college – I'm going to a really nice school," she said. "And it just kind of made it seem like I don’t care, I just want to brush it off, I’m just gonna be successful at YouTube and not have to worry about school. … I’m really disappointed in myself."

She continued: "I know that (college) is a privilege and it's a blessing and I'm really grateful."

Olivia Jade moved into her college dorm in September 2018, documenting the milestone on Instagram through a paid partnership with Amazon's Prime Student. It's a standard practice for social media influencers to earn money from companies by advertising products to their followers.

"Officially a college student! It’s been a few weeks since I moved into my dorm and I absolutely love it," she captioned the post. "I got everything I needed from Amazon with @primestudent and had it all shipped to me in just two-days."

That post has since been subjected to present-day comments from detractors.

"Hope you saved your amazon money to bail (out) mom," @user stefanturan commented, while @aliana.lemmey sarcastically asked, "Omg can you do a prison cell decoration vid?" @lolli_vicky added: "Expel this cheater !!! Your scum!"

USA TODAY also has reached out to Amazon for comment.

Olivia Jade hasn't publicly commented on her parents' arrest, but said as recently as Friday that "my parents really wanted me to go (to college) because both of them didn’t go."

She joking called them "hypocrites" on the "The Zach Sang Show," before adding she's "so happy they made me go."
