Los Angeles Police Gift Car to Woman After Hers Was Vandalized in Hate Crime

The Los Angeles Police Department surprised a woman with a new car after hers was destroyed in a suspected hate crime, police said.

This footage, posted to Twitter on November 18, shows the woman becoming emotional as she is gifted the car to cheers outside the Hollenbeck Community Police Station in Los Angeles.

Police said her old car was “ultimately destroyed” after suspects jumped onto the roof and carved racial slurs into the paint.

Police said the Hollenbeck precinct partnered with East LA Auto Sales, the non-profit Badge of Heart, and the Los Angeles Police Protective League to buy her a new car after the crime.
