Los Ojos man, 51, killed in single-vehicle crash in Velarde
Jun. 25—A Los Ojos man was killed in a single-vehicle crash last week on N.M. 68 in Velarde.
New Mexico State Police said in a news release Friday officers arrived around 10 a.m. June 16 and discovered Baltazar Mercure, 51, who was driving south in a 2015 Kia, had struck a guardrail, crossed into the opposite lane and crashed into the pile of debris.
According to the news release, Mercure was not wearing a seat belt. He pronounced dead at the scene by the state Office of the Medical Investigator.
