Olena Barsukova, Ukrainska Pravda.Zhyttia – SUNDAY, 14 AUGUST

9-year-old Sasha Filipchuk lost her arm and barely survived in Bucha when her family was trying to leave Kyiv Oblast in March.

The Russians shelled their car and Sasha’s arm was severed due to the injury.

Now the girl is waiting for prosthetics in the USA.

Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska told Sasha's story on Telegram.

Sasha Filipchuk was leaving occupied Hostomel with her family.

The girl's stepfather tried to take them to a safe place when the Russian occupiers shelled their car.

The man died, and mother and Sasha were forced to hide in Bucha. The girl was injured; she was taken to the hospital after two days.

Sasha and her mother are in Washington now, and in the coming days they will move to New York.

On 22 August, mother and daughter are scheduled to visit a prosthetist at the Unlimited Tomorrow clinic.

Sasha will get a high-tech prosthesis. The doctors promise that she will be able to move her fingers.

Prosthetics became possible thanks to the work of the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA and Ukraine House

"This became possible thanks to the work of the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA and Ukraine House in our joint project on prosthetics for injured Ukrainians.

And now, Sasha will see New York. After the horrors she endured, she definitely needs to see something life-affirming," wrote the first lady.

Reminder: Ukrainian children who lost their limbs as a result of Russian attacks can go to the USA for prosthetics and rehabilitation.

Ukrainians are treated thanks to the "Unbreakable (Nezlamni)" program initiated by the Ukrainian House in Washington and under the patronage of Olena Zelenska.

The Stepanenko family, which came under fire at the station in Kramatorsk, has already left for the USA. Nataliia and her daughter Yana received training prostheses and are learning to use them to walk.
