Lost your Twitter blue check mark? Here’s why and how to get it back

If you’ve lost your blue check mark on Twitter, it’s not a mistake; you’re not alone.

The social media company has started its legacy verification program. The iconic blue verification badge was originally for notable, authentic accounts associated with government offices, news organizations, journalists, companies and content creators.

But now, as part of the new subscription service, Twitter Blue, account holders must pay to have the badge on their profile.

Twitter’s new service is $8 a month for the web and $11 for the app, The Charlotte Observer previously reported. The starting price to verify an organization is $1,000 monthly, plus $50 a month for each affiliate or employee account.

The subscription service has been in the works since the fall when billionaire Elon Musk became the sole owner of Twitter.

Going forward, Twitter also no longer accepts applications for the blue verification check marks under the previous criteria.
