They were dispatched to the 3000 block of Harvard Boulevard around 9:50 a.m., according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

Firefighters found a significant amount of smoke coming from the structure when they arrived on scene, District Chris Kinzeler told News Center 7.

“We made contact with the residents, they sure everybody was out and that they believe it was a basement fire,” he said. “Interior crews were able to knock it down.”

There is “a lot of smoke damage inside the home,” according to Kinzeler.

“There was heavy smoke throughout the entire structure,” he said. “It started in the basement. It went to the first floor, fully engulfed with smoke to the second floor. It took a while to ventilate that smoke.”

The structure is still sound. No injuries were reported.

The residents were not home at the time and smoke detectors altered them to the fire.

The cause remains under investigation.
