Lottery player wins big cash prize at southern Illinois convenience store this week

Someone won big money this week with a lottery ticket purchased at a southern Illinois convenience store.

A $50,000 winning ticket was sold at Casey’s General Store, 105 W. Poplar St. in Odin in Marion County, according to Illinois Lottery. Odin is about 18 miles east of Carlyle and 55 miles east of Belleville.

The winner, playing in the Wednesday night Powerball drawing, matched four winning numbers and the Powerball to win the prize. Two others also won $50,000 each with tickets purchased on the Illinois Lottery Website.

The winner of Wednesday night’s drawing purchased the ticket in California. The winning ticket is worth $1,765 billion, the second largest prize in U.S. lottery history, according to a release from Illinois Lottery. The winning numbers were: 22-24-40-52-64 and Powerball 10.

Late last month, another southern Illinois convenience store sold a ticket that scored big money for the lucky player.

The jackpot winner’s name was not released, but the state lottery agency said in a release that someone purchased a Lucky Day Lotto ticket that won $800,000 in the Sept. 29 drawing.

The ticket was sold at MotoMart at 5311 Godfrey Road, Godfrey.
