LOUDONVILLE − Area residents will get a chance to see their favorite Dr. Seuss characters on stage when Loudonville High and Junior High students present "Seussical" at the end of March.

Presented by two Loudonville teachers, director Emily Roblin and vocal director Karissa Frische, the show features 27 students from the joint junior high/high school, according to a news release.

"Seussical" will be at the Ohio Theatre in Loudonville for three performances at 7 p.m. March 24-25 and a matinee at 2 p.m. March 26. Tickets will be available presale at the high school main office and at the door closer to show time.

The musical comedy by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty is based on the many children’s stories of Dr. Seuss, including "Horton Hears a Who!", "Gertrude McFuzz" and "Horton Hatches the Egg."

Traveling from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos, the Cat from "The Cat in the Hat" tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos. Throughout the musical, Horton must face a double challenge of protecting the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers all the while guarding an abandoned egg left in his care by an irresponsible bird.

In true Dr. Seuss fashion, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, the release states.

The Cat is played by Dylan Darlak and Horton is played by Christopher Paterson.
