The first series saw Theroux sit down with the likes of acting royalty Dame Judi Dench, comedian Katherine Ryan, survival expert Bear Grylls, grime artist Stormzy, singer-songwriter Yungblud, and popstar Rita Ora.

Speaking to Radio Times, Theroux shared his excitement over the return of the popular show.

"Working with the team on these six new programmes has been an enormous pleasure," he said.

"The six guests are all distinctive and brilliant in different ways, all of them people who have endured setbacks and huge successes, and who have something to share with the world based on their journeys through life.

"We have tried to build on the success of the first six Louis Theroux Interviews..., while pushing further this time into terrain that is gritty and difficult, exploring subjects like mental health, brushes with the law and political controversy."

It comes after Theroux confirmed he was working on a new true crime documentary project looking at the controversial Anna Stubblefield case.

The Rutgers philosophy professor and disability rights advocate embarked on a relationship with 'D.J.', a non-verbal Black man with cerebral palsy whom she met during her research.

She went on to be found guilty of two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault in 2015 and sentenced to 12 years in prison, but her sentence was overturned in 2017 by an appeals court.
