Louisiana football to open 2024 season against Grambling State

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana football finalized its 2024 non-conference schedule, officially adding state foe Grambling State.

UL will host the Tigers in the season opener at Cajun Field on Aug. 31, 2024.

Along with the matchup with Grambling, the Ragin' Cajuns will play at Michigan State on Sept. 14 and host state rival Tulane on Sept. 21 before rounding out their nonconference schedule Oct. 26 at New Mexico State.

UL has its nonconference games filled through the 2025 season, headlined by trips to Florida State (2022), Minnesota (2023), Michigan State (2024) and Missouri (2025).

The Cajuns don't have a marquee home game during the next few years. Some Group of Five teams, like Louisiana Tech, have been able to play and schedule a home game against a Power Five school in the past few seasons but UL hasn't had such luck. Louisiana did play Mississippi State in the 2019 opener in New Orleans at the then-Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
