Louisiana football recruiting class 2023: Meet the Ragin' Cajuns' early signees

Louisiana football's 2023 recruiting class marks the first full recruiting cycle for coach Michael Desormeaux and his staff.

And they got things started Wednesday with a new batch of Cajuns who have officially signed during the early signing period. UL brought in 21 total players, with 19 of those being high school prospects along with two junior college players. SMU transfer linebacker Trey Fite also has joined the team but is not considered part of the 2023 signing class.

Desormeaux succeeded Billy Napier, who left for the head job at Florida following the 2021 season, on Dec. 5, 2021, just a couple of weeks before last year's early signing period.

This class could prove vital for the direction of the Ragin' Cajuns program, as the team nursing itself back from a disappointing 6-6 regular season and reaching bowl eligibility on the final week of the season.

How Desormeaux and the Louisiana staff build this class during the early period will speak loudly on its external perception, as well what their future identity will be.

Per the 247Sports Composite, UL had the 99th overall class entering Wednesday, the sixth best class in the Sun Belt Conference. Here's who the school has officially confirmed as signing.
