The Louisiana Holiday Trail of Lights lands on the U.S. News & World Report's list of the 23 Best Christmas Lights Displays in the country.

The great part of Louisiana's Trail of Lights is it's customizable depending on where you live and how far you want to drive. If you're up for an adventure, you can travel through Alexandria and Pineville, Minden, Monroe and West Monroe, Natchitoches, Logansport, Ruston, Shreveport and Bossier City.

Each destination features its own special offering like Natchitoches' illuminated downtown area along with events like the annual Christmas Festival, fireworks shows and tours of historic and extravagantly decorated homes. You'll have to check out the other cities for yourself to see what holiday surprises are in store on the trail of lights.

Most displays throughout the trail are free to gaze at, any additional events being thrown may have a cost and vendors may be set up to sell delicious treats. Most of these cities are located in Northern Louisiana and off the state highways 49 and 20. Most displays went up in mid-November and will be down before the New Year begins.
