Louisiana man killed in Sumter County crash, Alabama troopers say

A Slidell, Louisiana, man died Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Sumter County, according to Alabama troopers.

Webster J. Joseph, 37, was killed when the 2015 Freightliner tractor-trailer he was driving struck a 2018 International tractor-trailer driven by Candra D. Taylor, 21, of Tuscaloosa.

Joseph was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers said he was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash occurred at 8:45 a.m. on Interstate 59, about 4 miles north of York in Sumter County.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
