Louisiana-Monroe baseball's Mason Holt signs with Los Angeles Angels

Louisiana-Monroe outfielder Mason Holt signed with the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday.

He was not selected in the MLB Draft.

Holt led the Warhawks' offense consistently through the 2022 season. He was the only ULM player to be given All-Sun Belt Conference honors after being named to the first team.

The 5-foot-11 centerfielder spent three seasons with ULM, transferring from Navarro College. On top of leading the Warhawks (20-35-1) in almost every offensive statistic, Holt climbed the Sun Belt stat leaderboards.

He was in the top 20 for batting average (.317), ninth in slugging (.621), tied for ninth in runs scored (50), tied fourth in home runs (16) and fifth in total bases (141) in the conference.

Holt was one of two players to start in every game this season. He had probably his best performance on March 27 against Georgia State going 4-for-5 with two runs scored, one RBI, a double and a home run.

Holt stole 14 bases in 19 attempts.

The outfielder was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region Second Team. He had 22 multi-hit games and a 23-game on base streak.

This season Holt became the fourth player in school history to hit at least 15 home runs and steal at least 10 bases in a season – the fifth time it has happened in program history.
