What is Louisiana's favorite Pokémon? Can you guess?

The U.S. is experiencing a resurgence of the popular anime, video game, and trading card franchise Pokémon — and Louisiana is no exception.

A study from SolitaireBliss.com, a website that hosts online solitaire but also has a blog looking at all things related to card games, revealed the most Googled Pokémon in each U.S. state. For Louisiana, it was the soccer-themed fire-type rabbit, Cinderace.

Cinderace is a relatively new Pokémon, introduced in the Pokémon Sword and Shield games that were released in 2019. It's the fully-evolved form of one of the games' starters Pokémon (Pokémon players get to choose from as the first Pokémon at the beginning of a game).

The Pokémon is "skilled at both offense and defense, and it gets pumped up when cheered on," according to its entry in the Pokédex, which is the Pokémon world's digital encyclopedia. Cinderace can also juggle "a pebble with its feet, turning it into a burning soccer ball. Its shots strike opponents hard and leave them scorched."

Louisiana was the only state with Cinderace as its favorite, according to the study, which looked at more than 2,700 Google search terms over a 24-month period.

Back in February, as part of National Pokémon Day, the website NationalToday.com listed the Pokémon franchise's mascot, Pikachu, as the state's favorite (along with more than half of Americans). NationalToday.com did not explain the methodology in its breakdown.
