Story from the game: As 2013 team is honored, Louisville basketball beats Clemson for its biggest win of season

The 2022-23 Louisville men's basketball season will go down as the worst in program history, but the KFC Yum! Center was rocking like it was 2013 again during the Cardinals' game against Clemson on Saturday night.

Louisville's 83-73 victory over the Tigers brought the house down, but the environment could also attributed to the members of the 2012-13 team that won the program's now-vacated third national championship who were in attendance to celebrate their 10-year reunion — and to see a new banner added to the arena's rafters.

Mike Baffour, Logan Baumann, Wayne Blackshear, Jordan Bond, Luke Hancock, Montrezl Harrell, Tim Henderson, Mike Marra, Zach Price, Peyton Siva and Stephan Van Treese were among the players who made the trip to the 502 to be honored at halftime.

Due to NCAA red tape stemming from a scandal involving payments made to strippers and prostitutes to dance for, and have sex with, former players and recruits, the banner could not mention the vacated national title. Instead, it commemorates the team's No. 1 finish in the final 2013 coaches poll.

Much of 2013 Louisville basketball roster returns for celebration

The 2012-13 Louisville team finished the regular season with a share of the Big East championship and used a second-half comeback to power past Syracuse to win the conference tournament at Madison Square Garden.

The Cards then earned the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and rattled off wins against North Carolina A&T, Colorado State, Oregon and Duke to claim their second consecutive Final Four berth. Unlike the year prior, when archrival Kentucky ended its season, U of L beat Wichita State, 72–68, to reach the national title game.

In front of more than 74,000 fans packed inside the Georgia Dome, Louisville topped Michigan 82–76 behind a team-high 22 points off the bench from Luke Hancock, who was named the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player.

The NCAA in June 2017 vacated that win — along with 122 others between 2010-14 — as punishment for the scandal at Billy Minardi Hall, a dormitory that housed members of the men's basketball team. The allegations were brought to light in 2015, when self-described former escort Katina Powell published a book called "Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen."
