Louisville City FC schedule for 2023 USL Championship season: Game times and how to watch
The 2023 USL Championship season will be one of redemption for Louisville City FC.
Sure, the boys in purple set a club record with 72 regular-season points last year and earned their first trip to the league championship since 2019 on the strength of a dramatic playoff run. A 3-1 loss to San Antonio FC in the final, however, spoiled those accomplishments for team captain and former U of L standout Paolo DelPiccolo.
"I know that there's positives that people are gonna take from the season, but, right now emotionally after the game, my immediate reaction is that we underachieved," DelPiccolo said Nov. 14, 2022. "I thought we had a great group of people and a good group of players, and for us not to put on a better performance today and give ourselves a better chance to lift the trophy is very frustrating.
"Maybe in a month or, in my case, probably 10 years, I'll look back and be proud of it, but right now it's just a lot of disappointment and frustration."
LouCity's quest for its third USL title begins March 11, when the boys in purple kick off the 2023 season against Orange County SC in Irvine, California. The club's first match at Lynn Family Stadium will be March 25 against El Paso Locomotive FC.
Louisville will also play host to a rematch of last year's final when San Antonio FC visits April 15.
To get another shot at winning its first championship since 2018, Louisville must be among the top eight in the Eastern Conference standings when the regular season ends in October. Reaching the postseason hasn't been a problem for the club, which has secured a berth in the conference final every year since its 2015 inaugural season.
Here's a look at the upcoming slate for head coach Danny Cruz and company. Note: TV broadcast assignments will be announced in the coming weeks, according to a news release from LouCity.
