Louisville commuters, take note: These downtown streets will close for Saturday's 10K race

Be ready to look for alternate routes if you're planning to drive through downtown to start the weekend.

The second leg of the annual Louisville Triple Crown of Running is Saturday, which means several roads in Louisville will close to make way for the competitors. The race will start at 7:30 a.m. at E. Main Street, looping through downtown before finishing at the same spot.

Free parking for runners is available at the Louisville Slugger Field Lot, only accessible through E. Witherspoon Street until 7:15 a.m. The entrance to the lot from Main Street and Jackson Street will be closed on Saturday. There will be no exit from the parking between 7:15 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Roads along the race route will be closed for pedestrian and vehicular traffic during the race, with drivers able to pass through when the path is cleared.

Main Street will be partially open between Second Street and Third Street for drivers heading south into Louisville from Indiana, with barricades and barrels separating lanes. Traffic will be allowed to cross through the course when safe, a release from Louisville Metro Police said.

  • E. Washington Street from Preston Street to Brook Street

  • Floyd Street from Washington Street to Produce Plaza (Congress Alley)

  • Main Street from Hancock Street to Preston Street

  • Market Street from Hancock Street to Preston Street

  • Market Street from Fourth Street to Ninth Street

  • Eighth Street from Main Street to Broadway

  • Seventh Street from Main Street to Broadway

  • Sixth Street from Main Street to Broadway

  • Fifth Street from Main Street to Broadway

  • Liberty Street from Fourth Street to Ninth Street

  • Chestnut Street from Fourth Street to Ninth Street

  • Magazine Street from Fifth Street to Ninth Street

  • Pike Street from Seventh Street to Eighth Street

  • Produce Plaza (Congress Alley) from Floyd Street to Brook Street

  • Preston Street from Washington Street to Produce Plaza (Congress Alley)

  • Billy Goat Strut Alley from Hancock Street to Brook Street

No stopping between 4 a.m. and 1 p.m. on both sides of the street

There will be no stopping on the east side of Ninth Street from Magazine Street to Liberty Street between 4 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The third leg of the race, the 15K, will be on April 1. For more information go to louisvilletriplecrown.com. The Triple Crown of Running marks the beginning of the Kentucky Derby season, with the annual race set for May 6.
