Louisville Metro Corrections staff investigating another death of person housed at jail

Representatives from Louisville Metro Corrections say they're investigating after a man who had been incarcerated at the downtown jail died Friday following what they described as an attempted suicide.

A release from Metro Corrections sent Friday evening said Thomas Bradshaw was taken to University of Louisville Hospital after being found about 3 p.m. Monday. Medical staff at the jail also tended to him on site before he was transported from the downtown facility, the release said.

Bradshaw was pronounced dead at 12:50 p.m. Friday, according to the release. He'd been at the jail since Aug. 16 after being taken into custody on a misdemeanor trespass charge and several bench warrants.

"Director Jerry Collins and his team are saddened by this loss of life and reaffirm their commitment to make mental health awareness a top priority," the release said. "This loss of life is currently under investigation by the Metro Corrections Professional Standards Unit and the Louisville Metro Police Public Integrity Unit."
