Louisville football has solidified its new assistant staff.

Scott Satterfield has hired former Notre Dame running backs coach Lance Taylor as his new offensive coordinator. What position Taylor will coach, as well, has yet to be announced. Louisville is still working through that, but Satterfield will still call plays.

Taylor has an extensive coaching history. He coached running backs at Notre Dame and had a big hand in the development of star running back Kyren Williams. Williams 1,002 yards rushing and 14 rushing touchdowns to go with 42 catches for 359 yards and three more scores last season.

But Taylor's experience goes deep into his time at Stanford, as well. He coached at Stanford from 2014-16 and led a room that included Christian McCaffrey and recruiting and coaching Bryce Love. McCaffrey finished second in the Heisman race in 2015 and Love finished his career 3,865 career rushing yards becoming one of the best in program history.

With Taylor, Louisville gets a strong recruiter, but also a versatile coach. Though Taylor coached running backs at Stanford and Notre Dame, he was the wide receivers coach for the Carolina Panthers during his time in the NFL. He coached wide receivers for the Carolina Panthers for two years, which included time with DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel.

Louisville now has an offensive coordinator after going without one last year. Dwayne Ledford was the offensive coordinator for Satterfield, before leaving last offseason. Satterfield decided not to hire a coordinator then, but chose to fill that role this offseason.

How Louisville configures its offensive assistants will be decided at a later date, though. The opening for Taylor came with the departure of special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Stu Holt.
