This November, Jennifer Lawrence fans have a new film to gobble up in theaters and on a streaming platform.

The Louisville native, new mom, and Academy Award-winner stars in the film "Causeway," the first project from Lawrence's production company, Excellent Cadaver.

The film also stars two-time Emmy-nominated Brian Tyree Henry, best known for his starring role as Alfred ‘Paper Boi’ Miles in Donald Glover's Hulu series "Atlanta."

"As the first Excellent Cadaver Film that we were going to be producing, it just felt very serendipitous to kind of get back to my indie roots where I got started and what I have to thank for my career," Lawrence said on the red carpet premiere of "Causeway."

Lawrence's big break came when she played Ree in the independent film Winter's Bone (2010), which landed her Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations

In "Causeway, Lawrence plays Lynsey, an Army Corps engineer who returns to the United States from Afghanistan after suffering a debilitating brain injury during an IED explosion. Lynsey returns to New Orleans, her hometown where she feels desperately alone until she meets James (Henry), a car mechanic also wrestling with the heavy burden of past traumas.

After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, "The Hunger Games" star garnered rave reviews and possible Oscar buzz for her "Causeway" performance.

The film, which premieres in theaters and will stream on Apple TV+ beginning Nov. 4, has been in the works for a long time. Production on "Causeway" began prior to the COVID-19 pandemic in late 2019 and was forced to shut down. By the time filming resumed in late 2021, Lawrence had gotten married and was expecting her first child.
