Louisville police: Woman dies several days after being hit by a car in Portland

A woman died over Friday after being hit by a car three days earlier on a sidewalk by Market Street, according to Louisville Metro Police.

First Division officers responded to a call about a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at 10 a.m. April 19 by the intersection of 18th and Market streets, according to department spokesman Aaron Ellis.

The driver was heading east before losing control of the vehicle and crossing lanes onto the other side of the street before reaching the sidewalk, where the car hit the woman.

The woman, 58-year-old Tamara Blanchard, was taken to University of Louisville Hospital where she died.

The driver also ran into another car heading north, Ellis said, sending a passenger in that car to the hospital with minor injuries.
