It's the middle of February, which means it's almost time for Louisville Restaurant Week.

The event offers what founder Tony Frank calls a "culinary tour of the local food scene."

Participating restaurants offer three-course meals at a discount for $26, $36 or $46, depending on the restaurant. Some have fixed menus and some have options, and a dollar from each meal sale will be donated to charity.

"The whole idea is to choose a slower time period for restaurants and create this community collaborative event to drive people into places they might not have been before," Frank said. "It's been successful every single year."

Some previous burger or pizza week participants sold more than a thousand meals during their designated time periods. Louisville Restaurant Week gives restaurants that might not serve those types of foods a chance to participate and draw new customers to their front door.

"You can't have a loyal customer if you don't have them for the first time ever," Frank said. "This event gets new faces in the building, creates an experience for people to come and make it part of their food choice throughout the year."

At Board & You Bistro & Wine Bar, you can enjoy a $46 dinner — in the restaurant or for takeout — of goat cheese fritters whipped with honey and basil, Nashville hot fried chicken thighs with aged cheddar polenta and red pepper jam, and a chocolate lava cake. Brasserie Provence has a $26 three-course lunch available with its famous French onion soup included, or a $46 dinner with several choices for each course.

The Douglass Hills location,11400 Main St., will serve a $46 meal of brussels sprouts salad, choice of mushroom manicotti or pot roast and two chocolate chip cookie dough stuffed beignets.
