Louisville and Southern Indiana under severe thunderstorm watch Monday night
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for most of central Kentucky and Southern Indiana through 10 p.m. EST/9 p.m. CST Monday.
The service originally announced the watch at 3:40 p.m. Monday before extending it just after 5 p.m. Damaging winds are the main threat in the area as well as large hail, according to a social media post from the service's Louisville office. Tornado formation is not ruled out either.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to stop all outdoor activities and seek shelter in a building or metal hard-topped vehicle.
