The Louisville men’s basketball team is looking to end a four-game losing streak with its second ACC victory of the season when the Cardinals welcome Clemson to the KFC Yum! Center on Saturday night.
Head coach Kenny Payne on Friday said he's seen "a little bit of a boost" in his players after U of L (3-23, 1-14 ACC) kept within single digits against back-to-back ranked opponents, Miami and Virginia, despite both games ending in losses.
"It just goes to show that we can play with the top teams in the country when we do the things we're supposed to do," Payne said.
The Tigers (19-7, 11-4 ACC) enter Saturday's game sitting fourth in the ACC, having snapped a three-game losing streak with a 94-54 rout of Florida State on Wednesday. ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi on Friday morning named Brad Brownell's squad the "last team in" his projected NCAA Tournament field.

"When you put together a game plan, you're not putting together the game plan based on their worst or their down times," Payne said. "I look at Clemson, I'm saying, 'They're gonna play great.' I want them to play great, and I want us to fight them while they're playing great. I want us to win a game while a team is playing great (against us). Find a way to win."
The Yum! Center should be rocking Saturday night with 13 members of the 2012-13 Louisville team that won the program's now-vacated third national championship in attendance to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the memorable season. At halftime, a new banner will be added to the arena's rafters commemorating the Cards' No. 1 finish in the final 2013 coaches poll.
The former players who will be at the game include: Mike Baffour, Logan Baumann, Wayne Blackshear, Jordan Bond, Gorgui Dieng, Luke Hancock, Montrezl Harrell, Tim Henderson, Mike Marra, Zach Price, Peyton Siva, Stephan Van Treese and Kevin Ware.
And, if you're looking for a pregame photo op, Mayor Craig Greenberg on Friday ordered a replica of the national championship banner that was removed from the Yum! Center to be displayed outside Metro Hall for the entire weekend.
