Louisville vs. NC State: Live basketball updates, highlights and scores

The Louisville men's basketball team dropped a tough match against No. 22 Michigan State in Chris Mack's return on Wednesday night.

Now the Cardinals (5-2) are looking to close out its four-game road swing with a bout against NC State (6-1) on Saturday.

Against MSU, El Ellis scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half and helped spark a Cardinal charge from behind as many as 20 points. But scrapping wasn’t enough on a night when Louisville’s late haymakers weren’t enough to make hay, beat writer Brett Dawson said.

“El did a great job, last eight, 10 minutes of the game of really getting in the lane. Certainly he shot it well,” Louisville coach Chris Mack said. “But we need that when it’s a tight game. We need him to make those plays consistently. It’s a little looser feeling when you’re down 17 points getting it in there and sort of making things happen.”

Louisville leads the all-time series against the Wolfpack, 13-10. The Cardinals have won two straight, including the most recent meeting in Raleigh, 77-57 on Feb. 1, 2020. The teams did not play last season. Louisville is 5-5 in Raleigh.
