Louisville weather: Wind advisory Monday afternoon, cool temps

The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a wind advisory for parts of Central Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

The advisory will last from noon to 8 p.m. Monday when winds could reach between 20 and 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, the weather service said. Power outages could occur as a result.

There is a 30% chance of rain Monday, especially for areas in Central and Northern Kentucky as well as Southern Indiana. Temperatures will only reach the upper 50s to low 60s.

The mid-week forecast, however, will see the return of sunshine and warmer temperatures, the weather service said.

Winds may blow around unsecured objects or tree limbs, the weather service said. They recommend using "extra caution" while driving, especially a "high profile vehicle."

Monday night: Isolated showers before 8 p.m. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing with a low around 43. The chance of precipitation is 10%.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 60. West wind 14-18 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph. A low around 40.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 64 and a low around 40.

Thursday (Thurby): Sunny with a high near 70 and a low around 48.

Friday (Oaks Day): A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy with a high near 69. The chance of precipitation is 30%. Low around 51.

Saturday (Derby): Mostly sunny with a high near 75.
