Louisville winter weather advisory: What are the road conditions? Several schools closed Tuesday
A winter weather system moving through the Louisville area has brought in frigid temperatures and canceled school for some on Tuesday.
Louisville Metro Police responded to 10 non-injury crashes overnight, including five injury crashes.
Winter weather advisory in effect in Louisville
The weather advisory is in effect until 1 p.m. with mixed precipitation forecast. Snow and sleet accumulations of up to one inch with ice accumulations of a glaze or more possible.

Several Kentucky schools are closing

Louisville road conditions
Roads around the Louisville area remain wet with some slick spots. Check Louisville Public Works' snow map to see what's been salted or plowed.
In an email at 9:10 a.m., Louisville Metro Works spokesperson Sal Melendez said most local roads are "passable," but urged caution. The city's snow team worked through the night to clear the streets, with two successful rounds of treatment and a third underway, but sleet and freezing rain had hampered some efforts, especially in rural areas.

As of 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Interstate 71 South is down to one lane due to a jackknifed semi, according to LMPD.

Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to warm slightly on Wednesday to the upper 30s before hitting the upper 40s on Thursday and falling back into the low 30s on Friday.
Tuesday night: Slight chance of snow and freezing drizzle before 10 p.m. with a slight chance of freezing drizzle between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, low around 23. North wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, high near 37. Northeast wind around 6 mph.
Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy with a low around 27.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a high near 44.
Thursday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 23.
Friday: Sunny with a high near 35.
Friday night: Mostly clear with a low around 20.
