The Louisville men's basketball team will cap the school's homecoming weekend with the Red and White Scrimmage on Oct. 23.

The scrimmage will tip at 3 p.m. at the KFC Yum! Center in downtown Louisville. Tickets are $10 each and go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday at Ticketmaster.com. Doors will open at 2 p.m.

Louisville men's basketball season ticket holders will have the option to claim complimentary tickets via their My Cardinals accounts. Free tickets also will be available to U of L students for two weeks. Further details on student tickets will be released via email later this week.

The Cardinals will tip off homecoming weekend Oct. 21 with Louisville Live, the school's annual preseason basketball event. The U of L football team hosts Pittsburgh on Oct. 22.

Louisville basketball coach Kenny Payne:It's on the Cardinals to rebuild rivalry with UK

Louisville men's basketball opens its exhibition season Oct. 30 against Lenoir-Rhyne. The Cardinals' regular season opener is Nov. 9 against Bellarmine. Both games will also take place at the KFC Yum! Center.

U of L went 13-19 last season and begins a new era this season under coach Kenny Payne, a member of the school's 1986 NCAA title team and a former longtime assistant at Kentucky. Homecoming weekend will be the first public glimpse at Payne's first team, but the coach has been in the practice gym with his new players.

"I think they're learning a lot," Payne said last week. "I think they're getting better. But it's hard. The bar is raised very high. Just about unattainable. But that's the way you get better."
