We love Brandi Carlile's 'The Mother,' a spot-on mom life video just before Mother's Day

The video shows moms doing the hum-drum feeding, bathing and putting kids to bed. But the melody and Carlile's voice make them seem like mini miracles.

Brandi Carlile makes magic in a video about motherhood that just dropped, called "The Mother."

To describe it doesn't do it justice. Scenes of mothers breastfeeding, tossing kids balls from a pitcher's mound, wiping away tears, hugging their kids, or putting them down for bed, can't begin to capture the deep emotion in the 3.45-minute video.

But oooooh boy, it's there, thanks to the melody, Carlile's sincere voice and, too, the images all moms will recognize. She dedicates the day-in-a-life video, released four days before Mother's Day, "to every mother, everywhere." In the tribute to her 4-year-old daughter, Evangeline, she sings:

"The first things that she took from me were selfishness and sleep
She broke a thousand heirlooms I was never meant to keep
She filled my life with color, canceled plans, and trashed my car
But none of that was ever who we are."

Carlile and her wife, Catherine Shepherd, also are parents to 1-year-old daughter Elijah.

"The Mother" appears on Carlile's latest album, "By the Way, I Forgive You," which won the Grammy for best-Americana album earlier this year.
