Love Island star Amber Gill has opened up about her sexuality, revealing she’s keen to share details of her "coming out" story in a documentary or TV show.

The reality star was crowned winner of Love Island season five in 2019 after coupling up with Irish rugby player Greg O’Shea.

However, since splitting with O’Shea, Gill recently updated fans on her love life by confirming her same-sex relationship with footballer girlfriend Jen Beattie.

Reflecting on her journey, Gill confessed she’s unsure when she first became curious about her sexuality.

"I don’t know," she told OK! during a recent interview. "I’m still figuring that out – whether I did or I didn’t, I just know there was a certain point where I was like, 'I want to pursue serious relationships with women.'

"I’m still figuring it all out, so I might do some sort of TV or documentary around that, because I think it is important for someone to have a story of someone coming out late as well."

Further speaking about her decision to "come out", Gill shared that she hopes to give others the courage to publicly join the LGBTQ+ community.

"That’s another important thing for me," the reality star explained. "I think coming from a show that I came from, people weren’t expecting it. It’s taken a little while for people to get used to it."

As a result, she’s keen to help remove the stigma surrounding people talking openly about their sexuality.

"I bet loads of people feel if they’ve got to a certain age, they can’t come out now," Gill said. "And you can, whenever you want. You can decide whatever you want for yourself, whenever you want."

Teasing some brief details of her love life, Gill revealed things are going "very well" with her girlfriend.

"I’m having fun, I’m in a good relationship and that’s all I care about," she said.

Love Island airs ITV2 and is available via catch up on ITVX and BritBox.
