Love Island has been hit with 130 complaints amid claims of bullying and a shock dumping that left viewers reeling.

Broadcasting watchdog Ofcom said that 66 people complained about the episode of the ITV dating show that aired on 21 June.

And a spokesperson told Yahoo that the majority of those complaints “related to alleged bullying, microaggression and misogyny by Sammy (Root)”.

Root has clashed with some of the other contestants during the series, which is hosted by Maya Jama.

The rest of the complaints related to Molly Marsh’s dumping, with 64 people objecting.

That episode aired on 23 June and saw fan favourite Marsh given her marching orders after former contestant Kady McDermott returned and nabbed Marsh’s partner Zachariah Noble, leaving her single.

The dramatic dumping stunned the Islanders and viewers.

And after the episode aired many fans took to Twitter to say they thought the way it happened was “unfair”.

“This is so wrong the way Molly was dumped,” said one person.

“How is that even a possibility. I feel so bad for Molly, it's so unfair.”

Another said the show “did Molly dirty”, and someone else wrote: “That’s a little bit unfair to Molly, they should have let her fight for her place at least.”
