Love Island star Samie Elishi got visibly emotional as she talked about her break-up with Tom Clare and revealed a cancer scare in her latest YouTube video.

In a vlog recorded in her car titled 'THE VIDEO I NEVER WANTED TO MAKE', Samie got "the elephant in the room" out of the way first, stating that she and Tom have broken up, but ended things on good terms.

"No one's done anything bad to each other, there's still lots and lots of love there, it just wasn't working on the outside," she said.

"I would never say a bad word about him and he would never say a bad word about me... We just weren't working outside. You've got so much pressure and so many other things. It was a lot more difficult to maintain."

She explained that she didn't address the break-up sooner as she had been dealing with the news that she has a 5 centimetre lump on her neck that may or may not be cancerous, and she is waiting to find out the result.

"I have to have half of my thyroid removed, basically all they do is just cut your neck," she explained as she started to get visibly emotional.

"I shouldn't be upset because I'm so grateful that people messaged and I caught it now, and I have the opportunity to get it removed and get it sorted, but it is still really scary. I'm a young girl, but I'm realising how common it is."

Samie made reference to fellow Love Island alum Demi Jones who has now recovered since her thyroid cancer diagnosis.

"Thank God she shared the journey," Samie said. "I'm gonna share it as well, no matter how hard it's gonna be."

Love Island airs on ITV2, and is available via catch up on ITVX and BritBox.
