Love Island star Luca Bish teases his mum over "TV debut"

Former Love Island star Luca Bish has teased his mother Maria over her television debut.

Maria, who works as an antiques dealer, announced she would be appearing on Quest show Salvage Hunters, saying that “Luca isn’t the only TV star in the family” with a post on Instagram.

Luca responded in jest, pointing out that Maria had already appeared on the small screen during the ‘Meet the Parents’ segment of Love Island.

“Cheek of my mum saying she's making her TV debut tonight as if she didn't fly over to Spain dressed to the nines for her first ever cameo,” he wrote in response to Maria’s announcement.

Luca appeared on the ITV2 dating show last year, coupling up with Gemma Owen as they finished in second place behind Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti.

The pair continued their relationship outside of the villa until November, with Gemma announcing their break-up by saying: “It wasn't an easy decision but ultimately this is what is best for both of us right now.”

Luca responded the day after, releasing a statement which read: “I would have liked some time to process this privately but as you all already now know sadly Gemma and I made the mutual decision earlier today to go our separate ways.

“We have been on such a journey together and have made some amazing memories which I will treasure,” he continued. “I can't thank everyone enough for their support for us as a couple during and after Love Island. We will remain good friends and I wish nothing but the best for her.”

The current series of the dating show, which is taking place in South Africa, is nearing its conclusion, with tensions rising following the events of Movie Night.

Love Island airs nightly on ITV2, and is available via catch up on ITVX and BritBox.
