Love Island viewers react to hilarious on-air blunder

Love Island viewers were left with some serious second-hand embarrassment after one of this year's contestants' encounter with a bombshell.

Kai Fagan was pretty sure he'd seen one of the Casa Amor girls before and that the name of the woman in question was Kim. Spoiler alert: it wasn't.

"Nah, I think I know her, I think I know her…" he told his mates on the show, before going all in and shouting "Kim!" at her.

She did turn, but not because her name was actually Kim. The Glaswegian bombshell is called something else entirely: Lydia Karakyriakou.

"Bro, she looked exactly like this girl," Kai said later, once his case of mistaken identity had aired on national TV.

Luckily, Lydia didn't seem to have picked up on Kai's blunder. ITV2 viewers at home, however, very much did and took to social media to share their thoughts, having witnessed him hit and gloriously miss.

"Kai saying Kim is the most embarrassing thing I've seen all day," one fan commented, while another person wrote: "Kai screaming 'Kim' at some random girl has to be the best moment so far."

"The new girl wondering why Kai's calling her a random name [laughing emoji]," a third added, while another shared: "Kim minding her own business watching TV when all of a sudden she hears Kai shout her name on the telly" alongside an emoji of a woman looking around confused.

We'll see whether Lydia may be able to turn Kai's head despite having only just met him. Should he decided to stay with Olivia Hawkins instead, here's hoping he won't have another name mix-up once they reunite.

Love Island airs nightly on ITV2, and is available via catch up on ITVX and BritBox.
