  • Iain Stirling accidentally revealed the date of the Love Island final during last night's show, and fans are equal parts desperate for it to happen and never happen.

Love Island fans now know the date of the 2019 final, and are stuck between counting down the days with excitement and desperately hoping the last episode never comes.

During last night's episode [16 July 2019], Iain Stirling might have accidentally revealed the final date, during some commentary about Ovie Soko. After a bit of chat about someone Ovie-reacting, the voiceover man confirmed that he "only had 13 episodes to make these jokes".

And if you do a bit of maths and count on 13 shows from last night (including Love Island: Unseen Bits on Saturdays, which Iain also narrates), you're met with Monday 29th July 2019.

Considering the Love Island finals have been Mondays for the last two years, and was set to be eight weeks long from a Monday launch this year, this would make sense with predictions.

Many fans picked up on Iain's sneaky reveal on Twitter. "13 shows to go? Does that mean the final is Monday 29th July??? #loveisland", one person wrote, while another added, "When will the final be? If Ian Stirling said earlier “13 shows”, that should work out as Monday 29/07."

Despite a final show now in the calendar, fans shouldn't have too long to wait for their next Love Island fix, after The Sun reported ITV2 bosses are reportedly planning a winter version of the show.

Their source said, "After the flop of Survival of the Fittest producers want to keep the format simple and mop up the gaping hole Celebrity Big Brother left reality TV hungry audiences.

"Winter Love Island makes sense as fans adore the drama and love triangles and everyone wants to enjoy a bit of sun on screens in the cold winter months." They added that, "It’s still in the very early stages and casting isn’t even close, but producers at ITV Studios and crew are definitely gearing up for it."
