Love Island icon Maura Higgins is crossing the Atlantic for the show's USA version.

She won't be a bombshell this time, though, as its official Instagram page announced that Maura will be the new social ambassador for the series.

"This just in... @maurahiggins will be your social ambassador this season bringing (sneaking) you the BTS scoop all summer! #LoveIslandUSA," the announcement read.

"I'M BACK!!!!!!!!! Bringing you all the behind the scenes gossip live from Fiji for @loveislandusa," Maura added on her own Instagram post.

She received a number of supportive comments on social media, including messages from Iain Stirling, who narrates both the UK and US shows, plus former contestant Faye Winter.

Maura will still be keeping an eye on the UK show, as best pal Leah Taylor entered the Majorcan villa this summer.

"Nahhhh! Oh my days! SCREEEEMMMIINNNGGG!!!!! FINALLY @leahjtaylorr," she wrote on social media at the time of Leah's unveiling.

Ahead of her Love Island adventure, Leah said: "My favourite thing I've ever watched is Maura's best bits.

"She's one of my best friends, so we watched it together one night and couldn't stop laughing, she's hilarious."

The cast for Love Island's USA edition was announced earlier this week. It's also been announced that Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix will make a guest appearance in the second week of the new season.

A spin-off called Love Island Games, where notable contestants from the UK, US and Australian editions of the show take on challenges, is also in the works.

Love Island airs on ITV2 and streams on ITVX. The US edition of the show streams on Peacock.
