Love Island star Zara McDermott has landed her next TV project, fronting a BBC Three and iPlayer documentary about the inner workings of Ibiza.

The reality TV personality first visited the party island in 2019 and has been back "many times". She will go behind-the-scenes and chat to a host of people to see what makes the island work, and how the island is trying to attract more upmarket clientele in competitive times.

"I'll be discovering what makes Ibiza tick and finding out what the future might hold for this ever changing island," Zara said. "As the 'Instagram effect' makes Ibiza the place to be seen for more and more young Brits I'm keen to explore how the island operates and deals with the challenges this poses."

The BBC's Head of Documentary Commissioning, Clare Sillery, added: "Zara's popularity is down to her ability to speak at eye level to the BBC Three audience about what matters most to them, so we're thrilled she’ll be bringing that insight to Ibiza for us."

The series, consisting of four episodes at 45 minutes each, follows Zara's previous BBC documentaries on topics like revenge porn. She has also presented the show Love in the Flesh for the channel.

Meanwhile, fellow former Love Islander Maura Higgins has landed a new role, working on the US version of the show, where she will be serving as a social ambassador.

Another former Islander, Chris Taylor, also revealed this week that he has a role in the new Barbie movie, something that surprised a lot of his co-stars, including voiceover man Iain Stirling and former Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore.

Zara McDermott: Inside Ibiza (working title) will drop on BBC Three and iPlayer in 2024.
