Love pumpkin spice? Live for Pueblo chile? Check out these local fall treats and beverages

Some consider fall to be a season for pumpkin-flavored drinks, while others prefer the taste of Pueblo chile in their morning coffee.

Fall officially begins in the Northern Hemisphere on Sept. 23 with the Autumnal Equinox. However, Pueblo coffee shops and bakeries already have ushered in the season with various treats and drinks. Whatever one's craving this fall, there's plenty of local options.

Pueblo visitors and residents may find coffee, ice cream, cupcakes, donuts, scones or cookies with autumn flavors like caramel apple, green chile, maple, peach or pumpkin spice.

While not a comprehensive list, here are some of the seasonal offerings at five local places celebrating the fall.

Hopscotch Bakery, 333 S. Union Ave., offers sweet treats as well as lunches including sandwiches, salads, and grilled chicken.

Hopscotch Bakery's Pueblo Chile Shortbread cookies are enjoyed at United Airlines member lounges in cities like Chicago and Denver, but Puebloans don't need to venture any further than 333 S. Union Ave.

Pueblo chile flavoring can also be incorporated into ice cream at Hopscotch. Pumpkin-flavored treats available at the Union Avenue bakery include a pumpkin harvest loaf with homemade granola on top, pumpkin spice muffins, cupcakes and bundt cakes.

Lavender is another one of the many flavors Hopscotch incorporates into its baked goods, like the lavender shortbread and white chocolate lavender scone.
