Paramount+ has announced the acquisition of the romance film "Love in Taipei," based on Abigail Hing Wen's New York Times bestselling young adult novel “Loveboat, Taipei.”

“Love in Taipei” stars Ashley Liao, who is known for her roles in “Fresh Off the Boat,” “Fuller House” and the forthcoming “The Hunger Games: The Battle of Songbirds and Snakes.” She will play Ever Wong, a young Asian American girl who is taken by surprise when her parents enroll her in a cultural immersion program in Taipei, Taiwan.

However, instead of the expected educational experience, Ever finds herself immersed in the "Loveboat" program, a summer-long adventure filled with romance and self-discovery. As Ever navigates her attraction to two different boys, she also must gather the courage to pursue her true passion for dancing and defy her parents' high expectations.

Ross Butler, known for his roles in "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" and the "To All The Boys" franchise, has been cast as Rick Woo, a renowned prodigy in both sports and academics.

Chelsea Zhang, who appeared in "Daybreak" and "Titans," portrays Sophie, a friend Ever makes during her time at Loveboat. Meanwhile, Cindy Cheung, notable for her work in "The Sinner" and "13 Reasons Why," plays Aunt Shu.

The film, directed by Arvin Chen, was shot on location in Taipei.
