Lovelands celebrating 50th anniversary

MONROE — Dale Robert and Laura Sue “Laurie” Loveland of Monroe observed their golden wedding anniversary recently.

The couple took a two-week trip to Italy’s Amalfi Coast in October and November. A surprise party took place Nov. 11 at Grafton Tavern in Carleton.

Mr. Loveland married Laura Sue Carrabino on Nov. 2, 1973, at St. John Catholic Church of Monroe.

The couple’s children and their spouses are Steven and Vicky Loveland of Monroe, Rebecca and Joe Perkins of Williamston and David and Samantha Loveland of Monroe. They also have seven grandchildren.

Mr. Loveland was a senior fuel supply equipment operator for DTE Energy, retiring in 2015. He also had worked for Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

He attended Western Michigan University and enjoys yardwork, spending time with the couple’s dog and volunteering through DTE, Right to Life and other organizations.

Mrs. Loveland was a principal nuclear planning analyst for DTE Energy’s Fermi plant, retiring in 2018.

She graduated from Monroe County Community College and Siena Heights University. She had served on the allocation panel for United Way. She volunteers with Gabby’s Grief Center, Miss Monroe County Scholarships Program, DTE Energy and Right to Life.

Mrs. Loveland earned the Volunteer of the Year award from Soroptomists in 2020.

The couple enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending their grandchildren’s sporting events and participating in community events. They are members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where they attend recitation of the Rosary every Sunday.
