Loveshackfancy Launches a Home Decor Line Worthy of Laura Ashley
Loveshackfancy is a pink beacon of ruffles, flowers, and lace in an ocean of slick capsule closets. You may recognize the ultra-feminine clothes from a recent wedding (the brand is a go-to for brides), a Hamptons weekend (where the shop is housed in a converted 18th century farmhouse on Sag Harbor’s Main Street), or on your friend’s most recent Instagram vacation. Former Cosmopolitan editor Rebecca Cohen founded the line in 2013 and quickly became a source of whimsical, vintage-inspired party dresses. Now, after opening boutiques in New York, Sag Harbor, and Palm Beach, Cohen is expanding to an equally dreamy home décor line that hits stores today. She tells T&C about her inspiration behind the collection, why she never apologizes for her girly aesthetic, and her tips to throwing a great party.
You have such a distinct sense of style. How did that come about?
My mother always dressed me in Victorian dresses as a little girl. So I am inspired by the world of Laura Ashley and vintage—ruffles, bows, and all things with a romantic and feminine sensibility.
Tell me about the new home line. What was the inspiration?
This is a capsule collection consisting of table linens, printed heart pillows, and a spirited quilt. I have a love for romance, femininity, and anything with a story. Each table setting tells its own story and each print and textile transports you to another world. I’m very inspired by old-world romance beginning from the 1800s. And a table is never complete without flowers, of course.
I am obsessed with the idea of matching your dress to your table cloth to your napkins. At our Annabel’s event in London, we created a beautiful table cloth to match our dresses.
Loveshackfancy is so maximal and girly, how do you stay true to such a specific aesthetic?
I am happiest and most inspired when I am outside in a garden in my Sagaponack home, surrounded by flowers. I brought the vibe of my home into interiors with our handprints florals curating the same environment. Being feminine is something to be celebrated, nothing to be apologetic for.
Favorite party flower?
Secret Garden Rose. More is more—especially with flowers.
Signature drink?
Indoors or outdoors?
Outdoors always.
Casual or black tie?
Barefoot and in a ballgown forever.
