Lovestruck Brooklyn kid couple takes off in van, nabbed 1,200 miles away in Iowa
Two lovestruck kids, ages 14 and 11, ran off from Brooklyn Thursday only to be found 1,200 miles away in Iowa after cops there stopped them in a van speeding toward California.
On Saturday, police in Council Bluffs spotted a grey Toyota van going west on Interstate 80 at 94 mph and stopped it about three miles from the Nebraska border, officials said.
Inside they found 14-year-old Kevin Figeuros at the wheel and his 11-year-old girlfriend Amaya Arguelles in the passenger seat.
The officers put the children in protective custody and are in the process of getting them back home to Brooklyn.
The two wayward kids were reported missing Thursday by their worried parents, police said. Amaya was last seen Thursday about 9 p.m. at home, while Kevin was last seen just before 9 a.m. the same day, also at home.
