This Loving resident won $2M Powerball after playing the lottery for over three years

Glenn McDonald had told his wife he'd won lottery millions so many times, that when his $2 million ticket finally came in she didn't believe him.

She said “Oh, you say that all the time," but McDonald is bringing home an oversized check this time to prove it.

After playing lottery for over three years, McDonald's winning numbers were 8, 15, 46, 56 and 68.

His $2 million prize is from the Aug. 6, 2022 draw, and the extra $1 he spent on a Power Play meant he took home an extra million even though he missed the Powerball number.

McDonald claimed his prize in Albuquerque after learning his ticket - which he'd been carrying around without realizing its worth - was a winner.

Born in Malaga, New Mexico and raised on a ranch, McDonald has lived and worked in New Mexico his whole life. He told Powerball officials he planned to use the money to help his community church.

Unclaimed Powerball prizes remain

Other prizes have still gone unclaimed, as Powerball officials said a $1 million ticket from the July 4 draw remains unclaimed after being sold in Deming, New Mexico. The winning numbers for the July 4, 2022 draw were 15, 16, 24, 31, 56 and Powerball number 4.

All drawing game prizes must be claimed within 90 days from the date of the drawing or the first business day after the 90th day if the Lottery is not open for business, according to a news release.

All profits from the sale of New Mexico Lottery games fund an in-state college tuition assistance program.
