Breeze Airways hasn't yet flown a single plane from Phoenix.

Although it's not scheduled to do so until November, Breeze has already announced new routes in addition to its inaugural flights from Phoenix to Provo, Utah, and Charleston, South Carolina.

On Oct. 19, Breeze, the low-cost carrier launched in 2021 by JetBlue Airways founder David Neeleman, announced three more nonstop routes and one with a stop, but no plane change.

The airline's newest batch of routes from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport builds on a commitment to fill voids in underserved regions.

“When you live in a city that doesn’t have a lot of air service, and all of a sudden you can fly a plane to Phoenix and don’t have to connect to a hub, our customers love that because they can go more often and maybe see places they haven’t seen before,” Neeleman said in an interview with The Arizona Republic.

So many new flights: New airlines, routes mean more flight options from Sky Harbor

Breeze Airways' new Phoenix flights

Breeze will offer flights to four new cities from Sky Harbor in February 2023:

  • Hartford, Connecticut: Nonstop service Thursdays and Sundays starting Feb. 9.

  • Richmond, Virginia: Nonstop service Mondays and Fridays starting Feb. 10.

  • Bentonville-Fayetteville, Arkansas: Nonstop service Mondays and Fridays starting Feb. 17.

  • New Orleans: One-stop flights with no plane change on Mondays and Fridays starting Feb. 17.

Hartford, Richmond and Bentonville are new routes for Sky Harbor, giving travelers more options, said Chad Makovsky, Sky Harbor's director of aviation services.

Breeze's New Orleans flight will compete with similar direct flights on American Airlines and Southwest Airlines.

Strong bookings for the previously announced Phoenix-Provo and Phoenix-Charleston flights inspired confidence to launch the new routes, Neeleman said.

What to know about Breeze's new destinations

Hartford, Connecticut's capital city, is home to the Mark Twain House and Museum, where the author (born Samuel Clemens) wrote his most famous books and lived with his family for 17 years.

Richmond, Virginia's capital, is known for its outdoor adventures like cycling on the Virginia Capital Trail and hiking and rock climbing on Belle Isle, a preserved park island close to the city's downtown. Richmond also draws interest for day trips, with Shenandoah National Park to the west and coastal areas like Newport News, Norfolk and Virginia Beach to the east.

The northwest Arkansas cities of Bentonville and Fayetteville are prized for outdoor experiences like hiking and cycling, helped by their close proximity to Ozark National Forest. Bentonville, also home to Crystal Bridges art museum and a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed house, is best known as the world headquarters of Walmart.

New Orleans is one of America's most beloved cultural centers for its music, food, European-style architecture and festivals such as Mardi Gras.

Frontier flights: Airlines added new flights from Phoenix. Here's where you can go

Breeze's first Phoenix flights were delayed by Hurricane Ian

When Breeze Airways announced its first routes from Sky Harbor, it intended to launch service on Nov. 2. The inaugural flights are now scheduled for Nov. 19.

The postponement was because Hurricane Ian, which devastated southwest Florida in September, delayed the pilots' required flight training, airline spokesman Gareth Edmondson-Jones said.
