A low-cost Canadian carrier will start flying to Tampa

A new Canadian airline will start flying to Tampa.

Alberta-based Lynx Air will begin offering nonstop flights to Toronto and Montreal in November, Tampa International Airport announced Friday.

Lynx Air is a new “ultra low-cost” carrier that launched last year out of Calgary in Canada’s Alberta province. Tampa is the airline’s 16th destination and fifth city in the U.S. after Orlando, Phoenix, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

“Tampa International Airport is proud to offer more travel options from Toronto and Montreal with our new airline partner Lynx Air, the first Canadian carrier to launch new service to TPA since the pandemic,” Tampa International airport CEO Joe Lopano said in a statement.

The flights connecting Tampa to Toronto Pearson International Airport and Montreal-Pierre Trudeau International Airport will run four times a week, according to a news release, starting on Nov. 16 and 17 respectively. Prices begin at $99 one-way and the airline is running a new-route promotion for 25% off using the promo code TAMPA.

Lynx Air is the 21st passenger carrier to fly out of Tampa and the third that connects the city to Canada.

We look forward to better serving our travelers to and from Canada and opening doors to all the wonderful things our growing region has to offer,” Lopano stated.
