Breeze Airways to debut larger aircraft at Bradley International Airport, with fares as low as $99

As Breeze Airways ramps up to offer longer flights on new, larger planes, the low-fare carrier said Wednesday it will begin flying those bigger aircraft in June on routes it already offers out of Bradley International Airport.

The larger, Airbus A220-300 aircraft seats up to 160 and will begin flying on June 2 to routes it began offering out of Bradley last summer. Those routes are Charleston, S.C.; Columbus, OH; Norfolk, VA; and Pittsburgh, PA.

Since its debut at Bradley last summer, Breeze has flown smaller, Embraer aircraft with the number of seats ranging from 108 to 118.

At the same time, Breeze will debut its new, “Nicest” fare — only available on the A220 — with an introductory one-way fare of $99.

The introductory fare is not available on all flights and must be booked by 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 25.

In addition to a first class seat, the “Nicest” fare includes two checked bags, a carry-on bag and a personal item.

Breeze said the larger, A220s have between 10 and 45 “extra leg room” seats and 80 standard leg room seats.

Breeze, a start-up airline started by the founder of JetBlue, launched its first flights last year.

Like other low-cost airlines, ticket prices on Breeze are set low and fees are added on for extra services. For instance, Breeze charges for additional carry-on bags or checked bags — $20, or higher for heavier checked luggage — and seat assignments, according to its web site.

Breeze, however, has marketed flexibility in booking that includes no change or cancellation fees up to 15 minutes before the scheduled departure.
