Low-cost steaks, free enchiladas at Texas restaurants for Veterans Day

Silver Fox, El Fenix offer Veterans Day deals

Hey, Bud! I’m an Air Force veteran. It would be nice if you would publicize the places to go on Veterans Day.

El Fenix: free enchilada or taco plate.

El Chico: free entree up to $25.

Chocolate ganache cake with toasted-coconut icing at Silver Fox.

Loews, Westin offer holiday buffets

Hey, Bud! The Omni buffet is nearly booked for Thanksgiving. Which hotels did you say have a buffet?

—Mary, Arlington

Buffets have not really come back since COVID. But here are a few (some are expensive):

Cut & Bourbon at Live! by Loews in Arlington, but plan for Cowboys traffic.

Blue Mesa Grill in Fort Worth, a big restaurant with a $35 Southwestern buffet and long hours.

Jellico’s at the Westin Southlake.

Hotel Vin in Grapevine.

Las Colinas Resort, which will change soon to a Ritz-Carlton.

For a value, Heaven’s Gate Restaurant in north Fort Worth has an inexpensive home-cooking buffet weekends and every holiday.
