Lowell man suspected of shooting at semi in I-65 road rage incident

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Kevin Perfetti vented his anger by firing at least one shot about 12:25 p.m. Wednesday at a southbound semi on Interstate 65 in northern Tippecanoe County, according to Indiana State Police.

A southbound trucker called state police just before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, reporting that a man in a black Chevy Tahoe fired shots at him and his rig during a road rage incident, according to an Indiana State Police news release. The trucker was not injured.

A few minutes later, Perfetti, 53, of the 19700 block of Austin Street in Lowell, called 911 to report a road rage incident, and dispatchers asked him to pull off at a safe area, which he did, according to police.

Troopers found Perfetti driving a Chevy Tahoe matching the description of the vehicle involved in the shooting at the semi, according to state police.

Inside Perfetti's vehicle, police found several firearms, according to state police, who suspect he fired at least one shot at the southbound semi.

Indiana State Police booked Perfetti into the Tippecanoe County Jail about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, intimidation and pointing a firearm,

He remained incarcerated on Friday morning, according to online jail records.
